Paul Boudreau - Executive & Technical Director

paul As Executive & Technical Director, Paul is responsible for the overall direction of the Gran Prix of Beverly and is the point of contact between the host cycling club Essex County Velo (ECV) and USA Cycling. Personal: Paul has been racing bicycles since 1994 and is the President of Essex County Velo. He has been the race director for the Gran Prix of Gloucester, one of the largest cyclocross races in North America, since its inception in 1999. Paul also helped revive the Witches Cup race in Salem and worked as the Race Director for 2007 and 2008.

When not riding bicycles or enjoying the occasional Belgian beer, Paul is a Senior Human Factors Engineer for a multinational computer technology corporation and lives in Beverly, MA with his wife Karin and their son Noah. paul@granprixbeverly.com

Tim Johnson - Course Designer and Rider Representative

tim As Course Designer and Rider Representative, Tim created the race course that is literally steps away from his home in downtown Beverly. Tim also keeps the organizing committee focused on the needs of the riders, helps with publicity and is the liason between the Gran Prix of Beverly and many professional racers.Personal: Tim Johnson is possibly the greatest cyclocross rider in US history and had one of his best cyclocross seasons in 2006 finishing in the top four of all the races he entered. He has also found success on the road with his overall win at the 2003 Herald Sun Tour. He is a three-time US National Cyclocross champion and finished third in the U23 World Cyclocross Championships in 1999. On the road in 2007, Tim was named the team captain for the Health Net Pro Cycling Team which is now known as the OUCH Cycling Team bringing his tactical ability and leadership to every major race in which the team participates.

Don MacQuarrie - City Liason

don As a lifelong resident of Beverly, Don is uniquely qualified to serve as the liason between the Gran Prix of Beverly organizers and the City of Beverly.

After many years as a runner Don has been involved in recreational riding for many years. This includes participating in a number of cycling events including five PMC’s and riding Cycle Oregon 12 times, a Northwest Classic. He enjoys following the sport’s racing scene and participating in local events and organizations.

Chris McKernan - Operations and Expo Director

chris As Operations and Expo Director, Chris' duties are varied. He is a strategic planner working with Paul on the overall production of the event. Chris can best be described as the fire fighter - working on last minute issues before they become problems. Chris will also use his connections to secure sweet prizes for our non-cash categories and our volunteer raffle. Chris also works directly with vendors in our Expo Area.

Ronnie Smithers - Volunteer Coordinator

ronnie For some, tracking volunteers can be a little like herding cats. Ronnie tackles volunteer coordination with gusto!

Ron is a newcomer to bicycle racing, in his first season on the road and cylocross. He made the decision to start racing after watching the 2008 Gran Prix of Gloucester. When he's not training and racing, Ron is the Fitness Director in corporate fitness and a personal trainer. He resides in Marblehead with his fiancee Ryan Catherine.

Michele Harrison - Registration Director

michele As Registration Director, Michele's laser-like focus ensures that the registration process runs smooth like butter for the riders as well as providing race officials and the results personnel with accurate rider start lists. As the Treasurer of host club Essex County Velo, Michele also ensures the Gran Prix of Beverly doesn't put us all into debt.

Personal: When not trying to get her training time in on the bike, Michele is VP of Investor Relations & Corporate Development at a large St. Louis-based company.. Michele lives in Beverly, MA with her husband Dick and daughter Maggie.
